Reyez was born in Toronto, Canada, on June 12, 1991 to Colombian parents. She began to play the guitar as a child after being introduced to it by her father and started to write her own music in highschool.

In 2012, she moved to Florida with her family after being granted American visas. While living there she primarily worked as a bartender.

Remix Project

Jessie returned to Toronto in 2014 when she became involved with the Remix Project, an educational program for low-income students that helps young adults learn about music and the arts. At the Remix Project, Reyez was mentored by Daniel Daley, from Dvsn, and her music was heard by King Louie.  He liked her work and asked her to collaborate with him on a song. The single they created together “Living in the Sky” was released in 2014, followed by a second single, “It Hurts (Selena)”, in 2015.
